Most people don't know this but NASA has been trying to create a "cooler" image so that the youth of today (taxpayers of the future) will develop a great affinity for the organization. NASA was all the rage in the 60's when we were trying to beat the dirty Russians and get to the moon and all that. Nowadays people almost get mad at you for wasting their time if you tell them that space shuttles are being launched.
